Tristan Perich’s 1-Bit Symphony is an electronic composition in five movements on a single microchip. Though housed in a CD jewel case, 1-Bit Symphony is not a recording in the traditional sense; it literally “performs” its music live when turned on. A complete electronic circuit—programmed by the artist and assembled by hand—plays the music through a headphone jack mounted into the case itself.
The floor plan clearly shows why this is “The Minimalist House”. Living in the house would probably make me go insane a “little to minimalist” for my likes. Location: Okinawa, Japan, designed by Shinichi Ogawa & Associates / Urbanist Architect.
Now I can give up my daytime job and start transporting cocaine through the cayman islands if only I had the 120k to burn. Aspiration redefined. Interesting view in how a digital world a new generation of kids are exploring mixtape culture by rediscovering an analog medium. Ahhh brings back memories, wonder how many of the “crushes” I had still have their “mixtapes” ha…
This is classic, if you haven’t heard of chatroulette check out the link, if you have check out the video, the guy deserves his own sitcom. Your host, Merton, a freestyling in real-time with random strangers on Chat Roulette. No piano lessons, Merton is self-taught. Not Ben Folds. Seriously. Ben is a much better pianist, and listen to the voice on the “Man in the Dark” part – totally not his voice at all. Besides, wouldn’t Ben cover more of his face to disguise his identity?
Your local corner (blue collar) butcher transformed into a boutique (stuck up) butcher. In the well-established (Woolhara, Sydney Australia) suburb, tree-lined streets offer a perfect enclave for cafes and boutiques, and for that most unlikely of things, a supremely cool butcher shop. Victor Churchill is the first, and so far the only, butcher shop established by Vic and Anthony Puharich, the father and son duo behind Vic’s Premium Quality Meat, the leading meat supplier to some of the finest restaurants in Australia, China and Singapore. The store boasts so many unique, custom-designed and exclusive features that the only way to absorb it all is a real-life visit. The features provoke, intrigue and amuse the customer – starting with the façade with its double-glazed, refrigerated vitrine for viewing the ever-changing array of hanging meat and poultry, plus selections displayed on custom-made copper and glass shelving. It’s different but not sure i’m a fan of the crazy beveled 3d high gloss espn like interface here, looks very gimmicky to me, but hey I have to give credit where it’s due, without teams developing crazy shit like this even tho I’m not a fan of it, this becomes an inspiration for someone else that eventually leads to the evolution of the mobile interface and more, it’s all part of the “process”. The motion/design reminds me a lot of Yugo Nakumura’s work on wonderwall website.
Felipe Morozini, a São Paulo based photographer, takes voyeuristic pictures of people on their balconies or on the roofs of apartment buildings. Testimonial: “Felipe has a very intimate bond with his city. Watching people at their balconies or on the roofs of big appartment buildings, you get the sense of how this enormous and colorful city lives and breathes. You can actually transfer yourself at Sao Paulo and feel the heat of a summer ‘siesta’. Felipe makes me wanna visit his city and meet it’s inhabitants and his wonderful friends..” perfectly said…
American artist Andrew Junge created the Styrofoam Hummer, using styrofoam scavenged from the dump, Junge sculptured a 5.2m long, 1.8m high and 2.4m wide Hummer to highlight waste and consumption in North American culture. (post from greenmuze). I can see this idea being used as an ad for something (Toyota Prius maybe?) if it hasn’t already.
Great random facts daily, love the translation of the facts into sketches, from design studio young. Oh you can also submit your own facts to the site and see if they get selected nice little ugc touch.
What have you bloody done? It will probably take that smirk off your face. But after all the dust settles I still love your work and will still buy your prints.
